Statement of Purpose

The San Diego Quilt Association was created in1981 by Kathy Green, a local quiltmaking teacher, and was incorporated in 1988 to become San Diego Quilt Show, Inc. The group is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization formed for the express purpose of promoting and supporting quiltmaking in the San Diego area. This support is demonstrated through the presentation of an annual show to exhibit quilts, wearable art and related needlework projects created by local artists.
Although the focus of the organization is concentrated on the show, the commitment to ensure the endurance of the American Heritage Art of Quiltmaking and related needlecrafts through education is a Charter responsibility. Our common objective is to share the history, the creativity and the joy of quiltmaking by encouraging continuing education and sponsoring instruction and guidance through Adult Education centers, quilt shops, guilds, and other public forums. The members of San Diego Quilt Show, Inc. are dedicated to the promotion of this unique and historic art form.

About San Diego Quilt Show

San Diego Quilt Show Committee meets at 6:30 P.M. in the classroom of Rosie’s Calico Cupboard on the fourth Wednesday of every month, except for November and December. Do not call Rosie’s for information related to the SDQS. Instead, please contact us sdqs2002@hotmail.com, or via our voicemail number, 619-443-2706. Leave a detailed message with your name, phone number with area code, and a volunteer will get back to you. Joining the SDQS is an excellent way to get to know other local quiltmakers. We draw from all over San Diego County so grab some friends and come join in on the fun. We work year round on our annual show and would love to have you join us.
