Patt was originally an oil painter, watercolorist, now art quilter/fabric painter. The cycle is complete. “I’m a happy girl”’ she says! In art quilting, almost anything goes. Patt has been teaching since 2004 when she won the Sulky Challenge Grand Prize for her ink and thread painted piece “ First Call”. Nov. 2012, IQA Houston awarded Patt’s piece My Gentle Giant “Ben” with the Pfaff Machine Artistry Award.  Patt provides custom art and bed quilts… see pattblairquilting.blogspot.com . Patt was honored to judge the 2015 International Quilt Festival in Houston.   Patt’s art quilts are more like contemporary tapestries than quilts, largely affected by her extensive use of thread which she refers to as “linear paint.”  Patt has studied with numerous national/international level artists including the renowned watercolorist Robert E Wood.  She has gone on to teach, be published, and compete/win nationally and internationally.
